Frequently Asked Questions about Underground Yoga:

1.  Is your yoga “hot”?

We like our yoga warm, and depending on the class it can get really warm. However, we do not currently practice “hot” yoga. Not to worry, however; Underground yogis will still get an impressive sweat going!

2.  I’ve never tried yoga, what class should I take?

To begin, our studio is a great place to initiate your yoga practice.  It’s very private and our classes are small, so you needn’t feel intimidated or shy about being on display while you’re still learning. Our “All Levels” classes are offered in “layers”: this means the instructor will demonstrate a posture for the class, and then instruct the optional progressions from easiest to hardest- allowing all levels to participate in these classes.  We do highly recommend that people new to yoga take one of our “All Levels” classes as a comprehensive introduction to the practice.

3.  Should I wear shoes to Zumba?

Underground Yoga is excited to offer Zumba classes!  Zumba is very different than Yoga and yes, it is highly recommended that you wear athletic shoes to class.  You are able to do the class in your bare feet or sandals but this may be hard on your arches and feet, and someone may step on you!

4.  What should I wear to a class?

If you have a trendy yoga outfit wear it…if you have sweatpants and an old college t-shirt, that works too!  You want to be sure to wear clothing that will allow you to have fairly unrestricted movement.  Many members choose to dress in layers that can be taken off or added based on how you warm you wish to feel.

5.  What should I eat and drink before a class?

Proper nutrition and water intake are an important part of being healthy, as well as having a great yoga class.  We recommend coming to class fairly hydrated and with a little snack in your system.  A good example would be to have a 120z bottle of water and an apple approx 30 minutes before class.  This will give you enough energy for the class and also keep you hydrated.  We also recommend bringing a bottle of water with you or picking one up at the studio.

6.  Do I need to book an appointment ahead of time?

No, but we recommend arriving early to class. No need to reserve a spot, just come on in; it’s first come first serve.

Hello! Just wondering when we come in, do we need to bring our own yoga mat or is there any available for purchase or rental?

We are beginners who have never done yoga before. Do you provide mats at your studio or should we buy our own? I see that you have an online store. Do you sell your Jade yoga mats at your studio too? There are 4 of us and we want to try the All Levels Class Saturday at 10h30am. I hope it is not all filled up yet :-) .
